GEOCOUNTS Victoria manages all of Victoria DOT's continuous "Rural telemetry" traffic counters. These are located on all major highways across the state.
The traffic data we collect is used in planning the state road network, in particular truck volumes. Recently this data has been essential in assisting with monitoring and managing border closures during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020 and 2021.

Maximizing Uptime

We work to maximize the amount of data supplied from the counters by:
  • Downloading data (polling) from the equipment every day and relaying it to the DOT.
  • Performing routine inspections
  • Monitoring data for irregularities and attending to equipment faults
Detailed information about each traffic counter including hundreds of photographs is recorded in the GEOCOUNTS TUPI asset management software.

Short term validation counts

We perform 7 day validation counts with tubes. This validates the equipment volume, class and speed data.
