Video Footage Upload Speed in Australia
Compute how long it will take to receive footage posted to our AU relay service
Background
- Our offices in Australia are on the NBN.
- Typical NBN download speed is 10 megabits, according to Telstra
- Typical upload speed is only 1 megabit. This is by design to preference people wanting to watch videos, not share them.
- 1 megabit /second translates to 125 kilobytes per second
- Therefore one hour of footage (around 200 megabytes) will take approximately half an hour to upload.
- If there are two cameras, then footage is captured at the same rate as can be uploaded over normal NBN speeds.
Eg 1 week of footage from 2 cameras takes 1 week to send to the cloud
